Jen - I was cringing when I thought about you - getting the "why didn't you buy it from me?" ... but as I said I left it late to order anything....
... but, if you can't get it at the right price, then I feel good about that in this instance.
Well, Cake deco in Melbourne has them for $24.90 and ebay stores had it for $18.95....so, Quite a mark up to $40. AND fifteen cents.
I will be making a call today to ..."discuss"....

And you do a great job Jenny, you've been instrumental in helping us source some difficult to find items!
Jenny wrote:There are some things that I cant compete with price wise so I dont keep them. Other things sell really well that I know are cheeper elsewhere, like the Sugar Art Guns, i do keep.
Very prudent business moves! On both scales! (And as far as I'm concerned you still have the best prices on the mini tin sets both by themselves and including the cutters and liners
)I think we've shown we are happy to promote that which is related to cake decorating but I've also always recommended shoping around as well! Nature of the business you know!
I'd really like Maria to check this out do CDC give the same reasoning as Jenny for the markup? Will they give you your money back? You could get a lot of cookie cutters for $40!

Re: Funky Alphabet Cutter set - CDC comes good..
Well I have just spoken to Louise from CDC and questioned the price for the Funky Alphabet Cutters.
Basically the answer was that, the price they get it from the wholesaler - doesn't leave much room for their profit.
Louise has kindly offered me a refund or a credit and was very obliging to help me.

Problem Solved...

Re: Funky Alphabet Cutter set - CDC comes good..
Hi Everyone,
Kylie & Louise from CDC here. If we could post a response to comments made about CDC, which we welcome at any time. We really wish that Maria had contacted us before she started posting comments on the forum. Whether we like them or not, everybody is entitled to their own opinions but some comments made about us can be hurtful and damaging to our reputation as a business - especially when we pride ourselves on being price fair to our customers. In actual fact, we recently reduced our price of White Bakels Icing 7kg from $44.30 to $40.00 when we received a price decrease from our suppliers. Our wires were reduced dramatically from $4.50 to $2.20 a packet when we sourced a cheaper supplier, our patchwork cutters are now 30% cheaper now we get them direct from the UK. And obviously when we source stock we try to get the cheapest price possible as we constantly monitor our competitors prices, it is good business sense. We acknowlegde that some of our prices could be more expensive but at the end of the day it is up to the customer to know what the best price is for them.
At anytime, we are happy to discuss our prices and we always pride ourselves on good advice and fantastic customer service.
We certainly appreciate all of the hard work involved in setting up and managing a forum and spend a bit of time on this site listening to what is happening around the traps because basically all of the users of this website are our potential customers. Unfortunately with the amount of time we spend in the shop and doing classes here most nights, we haven't had a chance to get involved in your forums, but will make sure we add some information, hopefully we can offer some advice and comments to help everyone out where possible in the future.
The majority of our customers who know us personally would appreciate with small families and a business, our lack of participation is not a snob our lack of participation, but sorry, we need the sleep!!!
Hope to post again soon - Take care!

Re: Funky Alphabet Cutter set - CDC comes good..
Thanks for popping in to say hi ladies, I hope that you read the whole thread to see that most people encouraged Maria to go back to you as a variety of reasons for differing prices was discussed and she did thumbs up the customer service provided for that.
As I mentioned I'm constantly encouraging the girls to continually check the suppliers links and price check and check for deals!
We already figured you guys had an eye on things after I introduced myself at the store, Jo joined the forum!
I can certainly empathise with needing sleep as I also work full time and do cakes as well as running the forum with some help on the side, we certainly didn't think that your lack of participation was due to snobbery, just found it interesting that you guys are looking to start your own forum, not sure when you'll get to sleep after that! But hey we need more Aussie based info, that's what got this forum off and running as there was no where really like it from an Australian stand point and we wanted to make it easier for people to find, info, suppliers, classes and like minded folk!
Do feel free to have a look around you guys are listed in the suppliers page and as a place that offers classes. And we are constantly referring people to you as a source of solite! If you'd like us to update anything feel free to let me know!

Mine is the same - I was freaking out but then I read the packaging which says to use the O for the zero....
Re: Funky Alphabet Cutter set - CDC comes good..
Yep - me too - I used the O for my sons 20th birthday at the weekend and it looks a bit odd as the letter O is smaller height wise than the other numbers!!
Re: Funky Alphabet Cutter set - CDC comes good..
